Privacy Policy

Our commitment to privacy
OpenLedger is built on a simple principle: your financial data is yours. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal financial information. The desktop application runs entirely on your computer.
Desktop application
The OpenLedger desktop application stores all data locally on your computer using SQLite. No data is transmitted to our servers or any third party unless you explicitly opt in to cloud features.
- All financial data is stored locally in a SQLite database file on your device.
- Crash reports are collected to improve application stability. Additional analytics and usage tracking are opt-in only.
- AI categorization uses on-device machine learning (XGBoost) and optional local LLM. No data leaves your device.
- Cloud AI providers (Gemini, Claude) are opt-in only. When enabled, transaction descriptions are sent to the provider for categorization.
- SimpleFIN bank connections are opt-in. When enabled, bank data flows directly between SimpleFIN and your device.
- API keys are stored encrypted in your local settings file.
